Introduction of e-Invoicing in
Tanzania
The regulation introduces the TRA API, an HTTP API for quickly integrating VFD services that can be used for various services, such as generating Z reports.
The API does not follow REST standards and can be interacted with using any HTTP client in any programming language that supports XML.
The regulation emphasizes a one-time registration process where taxpayers must send their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) to TRA to generate a VFD number, and registration data must be saved in a database for future use.
Detailed API integration rules are specified, including the use of tokens, submission of receipts/invoices, submission of Z reports, and verification of receipts/invoices.
The importance of data security is highlighted, with tokens used as a second layer of API security, and it is required to use a valid token in every request.
Examples of XML data formats are provided, including information such as the date and time of the receipt/invoice, the Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) of the business owner, registration number of the virtual device, serial number, customer ID type and customer ID, etc.
It is required that after a receipt/invoice is printed, it should be immediately sent to TRA, and the taxpayer's system must be capable of generating verification information with a QR code and verification code.
